[20:00:12]<farmBOT>@farmOS@fosstodon.org => #farmOS 3.2.0 has been released! https://github.com/farmOS/farmOS/releases/3.2.0 => https://fosstodon.org/@farmOS/112249526872005885
[11:06:12]<botlfarm[m]>There was some discussion during yesterday's community call that we probably should have recorded the walkthrough mstenta did showing how to change views and export out of farmOS. This got me thinking should we record all the community calls? It seems like there are always good bits I want to go back and rewatch, or the occasional call I miss that I would like to see. Looks like jitsi has the ability to screen record or stream directly to
[11:06:12]<botlfarm[m]>youtube for recording. I can see the down side to this being people may not want to share if they know it is being recorded. Just a thought for discussion.
[11:08:36]<sj-techjorblad[m]>I would like that since I rarely have the possibility to join them but would still be nice to see them after the fact. But I also understand the concern if people don't wan't to share the same way if it is recorded.
[11:09:22]<symbioquine[m]>I just posted the chat transcript to https://farmos.discourse.group/t/farmos-monthly-call-10-april-2024/1972
[11:10:01]<symbioquine[m]>The actual process Mike showed is fairly similar to 1.x iirc
[11:10:39]<symbioquine[m]>Basically, install the views_ui module and use the resulting admin UI to modify the view, then export yml config and diff...
[11:10:56]<symbioquine[m]>or create your own view to avoid any future compatibility issues with the ones that farmOS vends
[11:11:39]<symbioquine[m]> * Basically, install the views_ui module and use the resulting admin UI to modify the view, then export yml config and diff/patch/commit (presumably ultimately to your prod site)...
[11:12:03]<symbioquine[m]>I don't do it often enough to tell you where to click though...
[11:12:14]<symbioquine[m]>that's the value of the video šŸ˜…
[11:12:44]<botlfarm[m]>I agree this particular process is fairly similar to the old recording I was thinking more in general for future things that come up.
[12:01:34]<symbioquine[m]>farmOS dev call on now. https://meet.jit.si/farmos-dev All are welcome!
[12:26:00]<mstenta[m]>botlfarm: Yea I have mixed feelings about recordings. On the one hand I agree with all the value you describe in having them to look back on! On the other had, way back in the beginning I *did* used to record monthly calls, and it seemed like it had a dampening affect on the calls. People were less inclined to talk. That may have been anecdotal, and maybe I was wrong, but we decided to stop recording to let them be more informal.
[12:38:48]<mstenta[m]>Maybe a happy medium would be to look for some automated transcription service for spoken transcripts (in addition to chat transcripts). And also record specific segments of calls sometimes, like we did here: https://farmos.org/blog/2024/how-to-build-custom-csv-importer-video/
[12:51:35]<symbioquine[m]>For Matt B once he gets on here ^
[12:56:07]<symbioquine[m]>And this one
[12:58:26]<symbioquine[m]>And this
[13:08:26]<botlfarm[m]><mstenta[m]> "botlfarm: Yea I have mixed..." <- I wouldn't want to stifle discussion so maybe it is better off just recording demos here and there.
[13:13:12]<mstenta[m]>Yea let's definitely start doing that more!
[13:13:18]<mstenta[m]>It's great blog content

[18:00:47]<mstenta[m]>fosten: whelp I found the root cause of that `update.php` bug :-/
[18:00:48]<mstenta[m]>https://github.com/farmOS/farmOS/issues/826#issuecomment-2050629063
[18:01:07]<mstenta[m]>There's a relatively easy fix for it, so I'll put together a PR for that (probably tomorrow) and we can release a 3.2.1
[18:04:44]<fosten[m]>Yes. I've been reading along. I didn't know command line and gui worked differently. Interesting find!
[18:05:19]<mstenta[m]>I didn't either :-/
[18:06:30]<fosten[m]>For those who like native plants... I'm currently at a Doug Tallamy lecture. Great author. Buy his books! šŸ˜€
