[07:36:03]<mstenta[m]>Hello
[07:36:03]<farmBOT>salut
[07:40:26]<spacespy[m]>Fine ?
[08:15:47]* goldi[m] has left #farmos ("Kicked by @appservice-irc:matrix.org : Idle for 30+ days")
[13:22:51]<spacespy[m]>Is there a place where i could download farmOs 2 ?
[13:22:51]<spacespy[m]>I wanna try it online as a website
[13:24:42]<mstenta[m]>Do you you mean farmOS 2.x?
[13:24:55]<mstenta[m]>farmOS 2.x is not ready
[13:25:45]<mstenta[m]>If you want to try out the current version of farmOS online you can spin up an instance here : https://farmier.com/signup
[13:27:23]<spacespy[m]>Yes i mean farmOs 2.x
[13:27:23]<spacespy[m]>I use, in production, the last 7.x
[13:28:25]<mstenta[m]>Ok yea the 2.x branch of farmOS is still just getting started
[13:28:32]<mstenta[m]>It doesn't have any features yet
[13:29:34]<spacespy[m]>When you try all your version, this is in local or on your own server.
[13:29:34]<spacespy[m]>Are you try it on a web server as a personal website ?
[13:29:40]<mstenta[m]>Lots of work to do but stay tuned for updates over the coming months
[13:30:07]<mstenta[m]>I'm not sure I understand your question
[13:30:19]<spacespy[m]>With all hosting providers restrictions or not implemented fonctions
[13:31:03]<spacespy[m]>Sorry, i'm a bit slow.
[13:31:03]<spacespy[m]>I'm just a froggy trying to speak english
[13:31:17]<mstenta[m]>If you are able to run the farmOS docker container that is the recommend method and is officially supported
[13:32:18]<spacespy[m]>I've done it, but i'm not specialist with docker (1990's Linux skills )
[13:32:47]<spacespy[m]>So i use it online as a website and it works great
[13:34:21]<symbioquine[m]>If you're running it using docker then it is running on the host where docker is - and probably where you ran the command. (Assuming you're not doing something special to specify a different docker daemon/host.)
[13:34:41]<mstenta[m]>Yea, docker requires some extra knowledge, but it is worth it... no more messing around with all the various issues you run into on different environments
[13:35:12]<mstenta[m]>yes, the web host would have docker installed, and would be running the farmOS container there
[13:35:35]<mstenta[m]>And the other benefit is you can run the exact same container locally
[13:35:45]<mstenta[m]>So you know the environments are exactly the same
[13:35:53]<spacespy[m]>When we where living in our farm, i'll probably use an old computer as personnal server
[13:36:17]<mstenta[m]>Here are instructions for running farmOS in Docker for local development: https://farmos.org/development/docker/
[13:36:34]<mstenta[m]>(A bit different for production, but that will at least get you started understanding how it works hopefully)
[13:36:41]<spacespy[m]>I have read it
[13:36:57]<spacespy[m]>Great thx
[13:39:35]<spacespy[m]>Oh, another good news
[13:40:15]<spacespy[m]>FarmOs app works great with an online setup
[13:41:13]<spacespy[m]>It's a bit complicated to get the HTTPS certificate, but it really easy to use
[13:41:58]<spacespy[m]>And in G4, i Can upload all my log direct from the field
[13:42:42]<mstenta[m]>Oh great! Do you mean farmOS Field Kit?
[13:43:44]<spacespy[m]>Yes
[13:49:50]<mstenta[m]>Glad to hear it! :-)
[14:29:44]* skalakm has joined #farmos
[14:53:24]* skalakm has quit (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
[15:12:53]<mstenta[m]>Hi skalakm - welcome back! :-)
[15:13:00]<mstenta[m]>I replied to your earlier question...
[15:13:37]<mstenta[m]>(looks like you're using IRC, so here's a link to the log: https://irc.farmos.org/bot/log/farmOS/2020-09-17#T55797)
[15:15:01]<mstenta[m]>> I'm trying to automate configuring a site including adding several custom modules, eg with a bash script.
[15:15:36]<mstenta[m]>Once you get the modules into the right place in the codebase (`sites/all/modules/...`), then you can enable them in farmOS with: `drush en [module_name]`
[15:16:19]<mstenta[m]>Drush can also be used to install farmOS (instead of using `install.php` in the browser) with `drush site-install`
[15:16:31]<mstenta[m]>Lots of possibilities! Hope that helps!
