[07:06:49]<germarsh[m]>troym541: And we thought that we were remote in West Wales! There are some very clever farmers in the USA!
[10:25:40]<troym541[m]>mstenta: @dornawcox:matrix.org Hey Guys!!! Guess what? I accidentally posted the wrong flow yesterday. lol The flow I posted is the cloud mqtt listener version of the data that is sent out from the pi to the mqtt broker. The flow I meant to send was the flow that lives on the PI itself. Sorry for the mistake. The mqtt cloud flow that I posted yesterday still might be useful because it shows how I use function nodes
[10:25:41]<troym541[m]>and JSON to parse the data that is coming out of the mqtt. I am cleaning up the flow that is from the PI and getting it ready to send out. I will post it to one of those links that was previously mentioned and follow up with the details later today. Again, sorry for the mistake. I will post the real flow as soon as I get a chance to get it all cleaned up (remove my personal info) and ready to send out.
[10:26:47]<mstenta[m]>Cool thanks troym541 !
[10:27:12]<troym541[m]>germarsh: Thanks, we try. lol BTW, I have seen photos of West Wales, and it looks like such a beautiful place. You must love it there.
[10:36:39]<troym541[m]>I set my pi up to send all external data via mqtt to save on my pi's data plan. I try to keep it under 1G per month so I don't to pay extra for more data. For that reason I use my cloud Node-Red to post the data to FarmOS or any other external data subscribers. This way my pi only has to send the data to one source. Once the data gets to the mqtt running on my cloud server it has more resources to relay the data to
[10:36:39]<troym541[m]>where it needs to go. This set up saves resources on the pi, and also maximizes my data plan for devices that are running in remote locations connected via 4g lte hotspot.
