[03:06:18]<rjv23[m]>hi, new to farmOS, we are trying to implement a growroom module for indoor farming. Is it possible to change area names to reflect this situation. example, shelf, tower, tray, etc?

[05:58:15]<mstenta[m]>@rjv23: a better approach would be to provide your own set of area types in your new module, and disable the other ones
[05:58:36]<mstenta[m]>I'm actually working on making it easier to disable area types for the next release
[05:58:57]<mstenta[m]>We need to do the same thing for a forest management module I'm starting to work on

[10:46:27]<rjv23[m]>Hi, thank you very much for the reply. we are checking on how to start into it and trying to make sure we understand the basic logic and dependencies before starting. If you use erp systems as a reference, usually the inventory types can be setup by the user. Just wanted to understand if this could be done with area types and since most other labels can be configured in farmOS, thought we would check to make sure we hadn't
[10:46:28]<rjv23[m]>missed it somewhere. Thanks again for the feedback.
[10:55:10]<mstenta[m]>Yeah in farmOS some things can be configured through the UI, and some can be configured in a module
[10:55:52]<mstenta[m]>In the future, it may be possible to configure area types in the UI, but right now they are only configurable in module code
[10:56:54]<mstenta[m]>Also check this out for some other context: https://www.drupal.org/project/farm/issues/2931505
[12:16:39]<rjv23[m]>tks, will check more to find how to start in
