[21:24:08]<itnomad>in following a docker tutorial at Linuxacademy.com I ended up with more than one version of docker installed. I removed everything and carefully followed directions. My docker version is 17.03.1-ce. My docker-compose version is still 1.12.0-rc2. I don't know how that happened if 1.11.0 is the latest version.
[21:27:51]<itnomad>I get unspecified errors on running the docker-compose up command. I'm very confused at this point. The good news is that getting ubuntu 16.04 by torrent only took about 15 minutes.

[21:29:52]<itnomad>I just noticed that 'Docker Con' is going to be in Austin next month. That's just a hop, skip, and a jump from here.
[21:31:16]<itnomad>full conference pass is $1150. Oh well. Not this year.

[22:24:54]<lazerorca>hello there
[22:25:53]<lazerorca>mstenta, are you a developer for FarmOS?
[01:05:41]<mstenta>lazerorca: yea, i'm the main developer :-)
[01:06:19]<mstenta>itnomad: hmm, yea weird docker-compose version...
[01:06:42]<mstenta>itnomad: curious to see if ubuntu works better for you... let me know!
[01:07:01]<mstenta>good luck! and good night. i'm headed to bed...

[10:12:00]<lazerorca>If one wanted to do some Drupal development, where would be a good place for one to start?

[13:16:11]<itnomad>I spent some time last night removing images and containers and cleaning up my Centos 7 vm. This morning there is still a mariadb image and a farmos image that can not be deleted. I've tried everything.
[13:16:57]<mstenta>lazerorca: do you mean farmOS development? or drupal development more generally?
[13:17:19]<mstenta>itnomad: are there running containers using those images?
[13:17:22]<itnomad>But, I ran docker-compose up and it installed. I then was able to connect to the drupal installation page which I'm working my way through now.
[13:17:24]<mstenta>itnomad: sudo docker ps
[13:17:33]<mstenta>oh great...
[13:17:46]<mstenta>so then yea those two images are being used by your running containers - that's what you want
[13:17:51]<itnomad>No. images were not being used.
[13:18:22]<mstenta>brb call...
[13:18:37]<itnomad>No. Now I have four images, two of each, with exactly the same ids.
[13:18:49]<mstenta>itnomad: oh that's weird
[13:18:59]<mstenta>i've never seen that before
[13:19:16]<mstenta>itnomad: i'll admit... i am still a bit of a docker newbie myself...
[13:19:24]<mstenta>this farmOS image was my first foray into it
[13:19:25]<itnomad>Yeah, that pretty well describes my experiences. If there is a mistake that can be made, I'll find it. :)
[13:19:34]<mstenta>haha yea that's generally how i do things too
[13:19:47]<mstenta>break it to understand... sometimes intentionally... most of the time not
[13:19:49]<mstenta>brb
[13:29:46]<itnomad>So, anyway; my farmos site is now up and running. I'm going to do some reading on the farmos.org site. Once I get the maps working and get some areas to look up, my farm owner is going to freak out!
[13:44:32]<itnomad>I am a new user of docker. My approach to learning something about is was to get a 7 day trial at LinuxAcademy.com. I finished the 'Docker Quick Start' in about a day and a half. Now I'm doing the 'Docker Deep Dive'. On Monday, I'll have to pay for my subscription if I want to keep it.
[13:45:09]<itnomad>If I'm going to start using an apt-get distro, I guess I'd better keep it for a while.
[13:48:48]<itnomad>I'm not completely new to Drupal. I'm no expert, but I know it can be delicate. I had to rebuild a complicated drupal database once because someone in the company had overwritten the admin user which always has to be the first user in that table. Figuring that out was a time consuming ordeal. Fixing it was easy.
[13:51:38]<itnomad>In the end, I didn't even get a thank-you.
[14:01:40]<mstenta>itnomad: sounds about right... debugging is a thankless job sometimes
[14:01:50]<mstenta>when something's working, everything normal
[14:02:18]<mstenta>when something's not working, wel... it's always an emergency
