[11:23:40]<kadaan>@mstenta When I get past my work demo stuff, I'd love to sit down and figure out the proper setup for a developer.
[11:24:02]<mstenta>kadaan: cool - i'm JUST about done with a first pass at the Docker stuff
[11:24:08]<kadaan>Can't wait!
[11:24:12]<mstenta>just finishing the last piece now, and writing up the documentation
[11:24:27]<mstenta>it's been very start-and-stop
[11:24:46]<kadaan>Right now I'm working with PHPStorm EAP, but I don't want to rely on that as I know the license will expire.
[11:25:04]<mstenta>kadaan: cool - yea you could also try Kodomo
[11:25:10]<kadaan>Just sucks because I'm used to the jetbrains tooling, and kinda "hate" eclipse.
[11:25:12]<mstenta>i've never tried it, but it's open source
[11:25:29]<kadaan>Might try to ride the EAP train for a bit.
[11:25:34]<mstenta>if you're doing php programming, i would say phpstorm is very worth it
[11:26:07]<kadaan>Totally! If I owned Idea that would cover most of it too.
[11:47:56]<kadaan>Might end up buying Idea. That way I could use it for work as well.
[11:49:04]<mstenta>kadaan: so i'm actually not that famailiar - is Idea the whole suite of tools including PHPStorm and the others?
[11:49:24]<kadaan>Not really.
[11:50:08]<kadaan>Idea is the java tooling, but it was their first product and all the other are built off the same codebase. So most of the other functionality is available in Idea as a plugin. For example in Idea I can add the Drupal, PHP, etc. plugins.
[11:50:21]<mstenta>oh ok
[11:50:34]<mstenta>so you could essentially build PHPStorm yourself just by installing the PHP plugin?
[11:50:35]<kadaan>I'll verify it it works well enough and let you know.
[11:54:55]<kadaan>Yeah. Basically.
[13:46:34]<mstenta>kadaan: Docker stuff is done!
[13:46:51]<kadaan>Can't wait to try it tonight!
[13:46:53]<mstenta>i pushed a bunch of new documentation too: http://farmos.org/development/docker/
[13:47:06]<mstenta>awesome - please test out the instructions i wrote on that page
[13:47:14]<mstenta>let me know if anything doesn't work for you
[13:47:44]<mstenta>the new image is being built right now: https://hub.docker.com/r/farmos/farmos/builds/
[13:47:59]<kadaan>A quick scan make it seem quite straight forward.
[13:49:39]<mstenta>probably still a few things to figure out... especially as we start actively using it for development
[13:50:18]<mstenta>ie: currently the mounted volume is all owned by root - so we may want to figure out a different owner that makes it easier to develop locally with PHPStorm or other IDEs
[13:50:49]<mstenta>i think as long as the group is www-data it should be fine - so we could maybe just recommend that people chown it to their local user
[13:51:03]<mstenta>i'll test that more soon...
[13:51:10]<mstenta>gotta take care of some other stuff right now
[13:51:17]<mstenta>let me know how it works for you!
