[10:20:05]<mstenta>hi stephenplatz
[10:20:25]<stephenplatz>mstenta: hi!
[10:20:33]<mstenta>stephenplatz: how's it going?
[10:21:04]<stephenplatz>OK, I just started my client and didn't realize I had joined farmOS
[10:21:15]<mstenta>haha, well welcome!
[10:21:28]<stephenplatz>thanks
[10:22:07]<stephenplatz>have you ever used lined?
[10:22:13]<stephenplatz>sorry, linode
[10:22:24]<mstenta>yea, for a few projects - i like them a lot
[10:22:35]<mstenta>simple and good price
[10:22:51]<stephenplatz>me too, I've been using them for several years
[10:23:52]<stephenplatz>the reason I ask is I was trying to discover why longview is reporting that it needs to be updated, when it's already current - not a big deal, just annoying
[10:24:00]<stephenplatz>that's why I fired-up IRC
[10:24:36]<stephenplatz>but, now that I'm here, I may as well introduce myself - I'm a farmer and a Drupal developer
[10:24:48]<stephenplatz>so, of course, I"m interested in farmOS
[10:25:47]<stephenplatz>although honestly I've been too busy planting to fiddle around with it too much recently
[10:26:08]<mstenta>oh awesome!
[10:26:16]<mstenta>yea, i've been pretty busy too :-)
[10:26:28]<mstenta>farmOS is a slow-growing project, but it is steadily growing!
[10:26:40]<stephenplatz>that's great
[10:26:43]<mstenta>i'm focusing on the crop planning stuff this year
[10:27:21]<mstenta>it is all very barebones right now... still requires a lot of manual data entry... but the idea is that once the data architecture is in place we can add abstracted UIs on top to auto-generate stuff for you
[10:27:26]<stephenplatz>that's what I really need, and there isn't too much out there to help, especially FOSS stuff, besides spread sheets
[10:27:38]<mstenta>so it still maintains granularity of record keeping, but doesn't force you to enter every little thing
[10:27:50]<mstenta>yea, agreed
[10:28:52]<mstenta>right now i'm trying to decide how to reconcile the idea of a "Movement" log with the "Seeding" and "Transplanting" logs
[10:28:52]<stephenplatz>I've fiddled with https://github.com/claytonrcarter/cropplanning
[10:29:11]<mstenta>because Seedings/Transplantings are generally also movements... but right now you need to add both logs separately
[10:29:23]<stephenplatz>right, makes sense
[10:29:35]<mstenta>i'm writing up an issue on drupal.org summarizing my ideas... i'll post it here when i'm done
[10:29:47]<stephenplatz>great, I'll take a look
[10:30:04]<mstenta>thanks!
[10:32:10]<mstenta>i just got back from DrupalCon New Orleans - so i'm SUPER excited to start getting farmOS onto Drupal 8
[10:36:38]<mstenta>stephenplatz: are you in the US?
[10:37:03]<stephenplatz>great idea. I'm heading out to take kids to school, back later
[10:37:54]<stephenplatz>yep , Seattle
[10:38:04]<stephenplatz>gotta go, talk soon
[10:38:14]<mstenta>ttyl
